If you have thought about getting started working on some your Java-Servlet based web applications, you need to visit dans-home.com. I have had commercial hosting for about a year and I can say from experience that the features provided by Dan beat those generally available from commercial hosting providers. It is extremely difficult to get the kind of support Dan provides when you do sign up with a commercial host. Dan is doing a great job and it's all based on open source/standards technology.

Its like your buddy is hosting you.

When starting ELAK.org, my friends and I had another host. They had mySQL and where going to install a servlet engine. They did not, one week before advertised launchdate we had to change host. Dan emerged like a saviour with his generous offer of free hosting, elak.org is a fanzine in swedeish, dealing with non-mainstream music, so whe dont make any money, but the free hosting made us loose less money. Dan has everything, mySQL, tomcat, Apache, php and all the other cool stuff you really want to learn. Hes nice and takes the time to answer questions although hes doing it on his free time. With his kind of service I want to pay for the hosting.

very nice service

Dan is no longer offering free web hosting. He does offer commercial hosting starting at a very reasonable $30.00/month for a nice set of features including servlets, JSP and MySQL. He has been a tremendous help to me.
